Blue Bell

Built in 1971 by the Frank Hall Boat Yard in Westerly, Rhode Island, Blue Bell is Hull #4 of the Herreshoff One Design WH-15 fleet.

Blue Bell was donated to the Sailing Association in 2008 by WHYC member Nelson White, Jr. Nelson’s wish was that Blue Bell would continue to be part of the WH 15 fleet and that her legacy would continue for a new generation of aspiring young sailors who wish to experiencing the thrill and intricacies of sailing a WH-15.

Through our collaboration with the WHYC, Blue Bell is used for special junior sailing programs like “Sail 15” and “Taste Sailing”. Taste of Sailing is specifically designed for juniors age 10+ and are coached by onboard instructors in a group setting. Experienced junior sailors have the opportunity to participate in the WHYC Wednesday night races coached by a certified WHYC sailing instructor.
